M O S T • B E A U T I F U L

The hubby has been reading a lot of fatherhood expecting books (yes, he is the best), and the other day as I was dancing around the kitchen in booty shorts, cooking and feeling great, we had a good laugh about something he had just read.

According to the researchers in the book, as I approach the 3rd trimester this is actually the time when an expectant mother might feel she is getting big and uncomfortable and feel less beautiful or sexy in her body than ever before. He shot me a sideways glance (as I continued dancing through this information) and said I don’t think that’s really happening with you is it? (Cue laugher).

Nope. Definitely not. I am, for the first time in a while, feeling radiant. Beautiful. And though yes I sleep more than usual - I’m also feeling more energized with intention to enjoy the day. Perhaps it’s the cold showers. Or the fact that this pregnancy has followed no rules. Or my kundalini practice.

But whatever it is I share this today because there don’t have to BE rules. Many of the “what to expect when you’re expecting” type books are filled with fear-inducing information of what might happen. How you might feel more sick, uncomfortable, or in more pain. Even when I was feeling quite sick I didn’t find it helpful to read about how others felt sick too at this time, so I haven’t indulged in those fears or self-fulfilling prophesies whatsoever.

The point is this. Don’t let anyone - researcher, author, doctor, teacher, parent, even dear friend tell you how you are SUPPOSED to feel. Allow yourself and your 50 trillion cells to create the best environments to feel whatever you’re going through. It’s exactly where you’re supposed to be. How beautiful is that? #satnam.

COLD WATER TECHNOLOGY: 40 DAY CHALLENGE

“I’M ALIIIIIIVEEEE” are the two words I shout to my hubby, or Theo, or no one in particular when I emerge from a cold shower. The thing is, this practice is a challenge. It is hard to drag your tired butt into icy water first thing. But you feel absolutely indescribably amazing afterwards. And it has a myriad of benefits:

You amplify deep healing of your glands and organs. Your skin gets more radiant. You gain a grit you forgot you had. You set yourself up to win the day. You can handle no matter what is thrown at you. And you feel like a total badass.

Gratitude heals us in so many ways and forces us to appreciate our lives. It’s been an instrumental force of meaning-making during these past few months of sickness and transformation.

I sing of spring:
A time of newfound reverence for the world around us.
An opportunity to remember the beauty of this place, these creatures, this food, our bodies.

Transitions into different phases of life, and the portal threshold in between.

A pause, a balance, a harmony.

UNFOLDMENT
•
as I head off to a very special gathering in nyc to meditate, learn, and celebrate a personal milestone, I find myself reflecting on the folding and unfolding of the past few months.
•
The times I resisted what was happening, wanted things to be different, easier, brighter. The times I railed against the constrictions of feeling sick, or tired, or different.
•
But the real lessons are in the softening. The slowing. The finding deep meaning - at times even in the pain and frustration of life. On this unapologetically feminine Pisces new moon, I am learning to more fully embody what it means to unfold. Or to be unfolded.
•
I am learning the true - deep - meaning of surrender and trust. I am learning how powerful it is to go slower, quieter, and with a bit more of a universal perspective.
•
Every bit of it has purpose. Every bit dripping with meaning and growth and release on so many (many) levels. That’s how I want to greet life. With grace, trust, and a little playful surrender along its journey.
•
For the ups, the downs, and every bit of these lessons of unfoldment, I see you, I honor you, I am grateful.
